BON TON COMMUNITY DAY FUND RAISER
Saturday, November 14, 2009

Happy Tails Dog Park is selling Bon Ton Community Day Coupon books for $5.00 per book. In the book is a coupon for $10 off on 1 item and several other 20% off coupons good in Bon Ton for their Community Day Sale which is Saturday, November 14, 2009.

We would appreciate it if EACH and EVERY volunteer would sell 5 books to their family, friends, and/or co-workers. Please send Carol an email at wtrskier@verizon.net to make arrangements with her to receive the books. The money and any unsold books must be returned by November 11, 2009. This is the biggest fund raiser for the Happy Tails Dog Park that helps us keep the Dog Park maintained.

We receive the whole $5 raised from the sale of each book so it is a win win for us and you get a book for $5 plus receive $10 off on one item in Bon Ton plus many other coupons.

You must buy the Bon Ton books from Happy Tails for us to receive the money. Make sure you buy the coupon books from the HAPPY TAILS table as we do not get credit if you purchase them from other organizations or from Bon Ton.

We will be selling Bon Ton Books on October 31, November 7th and November 11th from 12 to 4 PM at Bon Ton. We also need volunteers to sit at Bon Ton to sell them. Well behaved dogs are invited to sit in the mall at this event with their owner so if you can work one of those dates for 2 hours (12 to 2 or 2 to 4 PM), please send Carol an e-mail at wtrskier@verizon.net.

WHY DOGS LOVE HALLOWEEN

Situated on almost two acres inside Kohl Memorial Park,
located in the southeast corner of Lower Paxton Township at Dowhower and Union Deposit Roads,
Happy Tails Dog Park has become the community gathering place for dogs and their owners.

Five foot high chain link fencing.

Separate areas for large and small dogs with double gates for both areas.

Free waste bags for cleanup.
A shady section at the far end by the woods.

Nearby water fountains and rest rooms.
YOU CAN HELP DEFRAY DOG PARK COSTS!!!

The Lower Paxton Dog Park Association is asking the Happy Tails Dog Park users to help defray poop bag costs.
We have placed PVC pipe bag dispensers in the Happy Tails Dog Park.
There are 2 in the large dog area and 1 in the small dog area. Please try to use these bags!!!

Take a bag from the lower hole and place your plastic newspaper and shopping bags in the upper hole.
This will help the Happy Tails Dog Park with costs and provide a way to get rid of all those plastic bags!!!

PASS THE WORD!!!

Opening Day Leash Cutting Ceremony
Saturday May 23, 2009

Click here for a slideshow of Opening Day Festivities

The Grand Opening & Leash Cutting were held on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 10:00am.  There was a very large crowd of people and many dogs of all sizes.  One of our Parks and Recreation Board Members, Ms. Mary Jane Hornung, counted the Dogs and she came up with about 70 Dogs with a pretty even mixture of large and small dogs.  The weather was sunny and warm as Valerie Pritchett, WHTM-TV ABC-TV News Anchor, emceed the event.  Mr. William Hawk, Chairman of the Lower Paxton Township Board of Supervisors spoke at the event.  Ms. Susan Hetrick of Parks for Pooches presented Carol Potteiger, Chair of the Dog Park Association, with a check for $2,000.00 to assist with the ongoing expenses of maintaining the Happy Tails Dog Park.  Overall, it was a TREMENDOUS SUCCESS and a GREAT TIME was had by all.

Thank You for your SUPPORT!!!

Dog Licenses

Dogs that come to the dog park should be licensed. Dog licenses can be obtained through the respective county treasurers’ offices or at local agents authorized by the treasurers to sell licenses. Most county treasurers have the application available for download on their website. The cost for an annual license is only $6.00. Throughout the year, the Bureau of Dog Law canvasses the area for dogs without licenses and the fines and penalties can be as much as $500.00, so it is a small ounce of prevention to purchase a license. The Dauphin County Treasurer's Office maintains a list of all licenses issued and if a dog should become separated from its owner or the owner needs to be identified for any reason, the license fills the bill.
